Chimpanzee Safaris in Western
Tanzania - 6 Days
Gombe Stream National Park a primate
sanctuary in Western Tanzania that is famous for its chimpanzee
population popularized by Jane Goodall in 1960 when the area was
established as a Chimpanzee Research Station. Although the National
Park is only 52 sq km, which is small in comparision with other
parks in this vast East Africa country, the attraction of chimps,
baboons. vevet monkeys. blue monkey and red colobus monkey in combination
with a unique birding experience makes this safari a "must-do".
This trip is essentially a flying tour that includes a boating trip
as we access this remote and forested park on the Eastern shores
of Lake Tanganyika.

Day 1: Arusha/Dar
es Salaam - Kigoma
On arrival in Kigoma you are picked up from the airport and transfered
to Kigoma Hilltop Hotel after lunch at Sangara restaurant we proceed
on a sightseeing tour of Kigoma and Ujiji towns that includes a
visit the Dr. Livingstone memorial. Return to Kigoma Hilltop Hotel
for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Kigoma
- Gombe Stream National Park
After breakfast at the hotel we depart for Gombe Stream National
Park by motorized boat. Check in at Gombe Luxury Tented Camp before
proceeding on a Chimp tracking tour of the forest. All meals at
the camp. Overnight at Gombe Luxury Tented Camp.
Day 3: Gombe
Stream National Park
After an early breakfast at the camp we proceed on a morning tour
of the park checking for the primates that call this sanctuary home
and also for the prolific bird life. Hike to the Kakombe Waterfalls
at the parkbefore returning to the camp for lunch. The afternoon
is at leisure before dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 4: Gombe
Stream National Park
Breakfast at the camp then continue exploring the park tracking
chimpanzees and other game. Climb Jane’s Peak at the park before
retreating to your camp sanctuary for lunch and another afternoon
at leisure. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5:Gombe
Stream National Park - Kigoma
Breakfast at the camp and proceed on game viewing/ chimpanzee tracking
in the forest. Lunch at the camp and depart in the afternoon to
Kigoma by boat. Accommodation at Kigoma Hilltop Hotel and dinner
at Sangara Restaurant.
Day 6: Kigoma
- Arusha/Dar es salaam
Breakfast at the hotel and depart to the airport fr your flight
to Arusha/Dar es salaam.
